Blog 8: Paper!!

My, my, my, how the time has flown ... this is my LAST blog post (No, the screen isn't blurry, those are just your tears. I get it, and I'm passing you an imaginary tissue now. There, there, you'll be ok🫶) Last week, we had our final technical visit to one of the coolest places ever - a paper recycling mill ( Papiro Sarda )! Can I just say: I LOVE PAPER. The plant was so very cool and it was amazing to see how a massive pile of trash (McDonalds and Burger King packaging, beer boxes, etc.) can be turned into neat orderly stacks of paper to live its next life. The paper mill pays for recycled paper (massive mound above) which is separated into corrugated cardboard and general mixed paper packaging. This is then fed into the pulper, which slushes the paper with water and pumps it into an 8mm hole (to filter out things like staples, etc.). The pulp is then sent to a cyclone separator, which uses centrifugal force to filter out materials like metals from the pulp. The remaining

Okay okay I know I said last weekend was the best and somehow better than the weekend before (and that weekend was also the best and the weekend before that was pretty great too)..... BUT this weekend was somehow even better!! Truly insane and mind boggling and overwhelming in the most wonderful way and I have not yet come down from the high 🤭 (warning: Jelly🪼inspired me to fill my blog with emojis🫣🙃🕺) ......sooo let's get into it! We started off the weekend with kayaking at the Devil's Saddle🛶 👹 . We voyaged across the sea (read: kayaked past the boats at Poetto for perhaps 30 minutes) before we had to turn back because it was too windy. But fear not! We were refunded and used the rest of the time to walk down the beach and grab breakfast (ice cream 🍨🍦 ) before heading back to the hostel. (Honestly it was the best of both worlds: a reason to get up and outside, but back in time to pack for the rest of our lovely weekend) Bags all packed, we headed to Gohan for all-you

Aaaaaand we're back from another wonderful, mind-boggling weekend adventure! Last weekend was a hard one to follow, but it (somehow) has been topped! Here's what we we've been up to: First up, a bonus beach! Not technically apart of our weekend excursion, but we went to Chia on the southwest coast on Saturday! Snorkeling, exploring the rocks, and swimming for a few hours made for a lovely start to June: The next morning, we were off to Bosa on the western coast. We wandered the pretty streets, popped into some cool artisan shops, stood in tiny doorways, and met some friendly cats - all while listening to rock music from the "Bosa in Rock" festival along the river. We had a nice lunch along the Temo River (accompanied by a Kiss cover band) and walked up to the Malaspina castle at the top of the hill to get a view of town and the water:       Leaving Bosa to the tune of "Don't Stop Believin'", we headed to the Sinis peninsula area and my favorite
